Senior Engineer - Cloud Solutions 

Currently, Watermark seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Sr. Cloud Engineer to join our team at Bolling Air Force Base.

In this role you will….

  • Design, develop, and manage the underlying cloud infrastructure, such as virtual machines, storage, and networking components
  • Integrate cloud-based systems with existing on-premises infrastructure
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native applications, ensuring optimal performance, scalability and security
  • Implement security measures and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations in the cloud environment
  • Demonstrate ability to adapt, perform critical thinking and identify solutions for the evolving cloud requirements
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.

Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer/Administrator, specifically with Kubernetes in a production environment. Ideally, there would be additional experience with vSphere for the next iteration of the cloud migration
  • 2-3 years of proven experience as a Cloud Engineer/Administrator, specifically with a Kubernetes certification; PowerShell and Python experience preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working in SAP and/or SCI environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud computing technology and virtualization concepts.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g. PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience in designing, developing and managing cloud-based infrastructure and applications
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements with a minimum of two (2) examples of practical application
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • Knowledge of DoD security Cloud requirements
  • Experience in designing and implementing security measures for cloud environments
  • Familiarity with back up and disaster recovery strategies in virtualized environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Relevant certifications in Kubernetes required, Hyper-V or VM Certified Professional are a plus

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with vSphere for the next integration of the cloud migration.
  • Industry verified cloud engineering certificates
  • Experience with VMware and SQL
  • Experience in troubleshooting Cloud and application incidents, identifying root causes, define and resolve issues, and implementing preventive measures
  • Understand the software development lifecycle
  • Provided guidance and training on cloud competencies and best practices
Certifications:
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) required. Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) desired.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Top Secret Clearance, with SCI eligibility within scope (at time of hire)

Other Requirements:

  • Reports to a physical location which occasionally requires the ability to traverse between buildings
  • May require sedentary work at least 50% of the time
  • Must be able to regularly list up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to manage stress with a high degree of maturity/professionalism
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $87,200-$146,400. Multiple considerations are taken into account when determining the final salary/hour rate, including but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, education and certifications, relevant work experience, related skills and competencies, as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.  Central to Watermark’s employment philosophy is the wellbeing of our employees which is why we offer a robust benefits package and wellness program alongside of annual base compensation.
